Digital Northampton's Iain Douglas, a Senior Lecturer in Games Art at the University of Northampton, introduces his students' Games Art showreels:

“At the University of Northampton we currently run Games Art, Games Design and Games Programming courses. On the courses we help our students develop the skills required to become professional games developers. As well as expanding their personal horizons and critical thinking, our students are introduced to contemporary software and the cutting-edge techniques required to deliver games content across a broad range of platforms.

Each year our level 6 Games Art students are required to work on a substantive Final Major Project that will be one of their showcase pieces. This is an assessed body of work and can be used by them as a first ‘big step’ towards an industry standard portfolio and an entry level job. This is where our students have a chance to show off their skills to their absolute best.

After graduating our students have gone into some of the most respected development studios in the UK and the world. They have also gone to work for architects, media companies and as educators themselves!

Below is a sample of this year’s level 6 students’ work. These snippets of their Final Major Projects have been produced especially for you to see here, now. Their final deliveries are due later in 2020.”
